OUR 2024 CHRISTMAS GIFT OFFER – SAVE 20% ON GREAT GIFTS OR YOUR OWN PUB AND RESTAURANT CELEBRATIONS WITH CODE CHRISTMAS24 AT CHECKOUT
Believed to be the oldest building in Dorking, dating back to 1405, the Kings Arms is a beautiful pub full of historic character.
Originally three farm workers’ cottages, it became a coaching inn during the 16th century. King Charles II is believed to have stayed at the pub, and it features in Charles Dickens’ novel Little Dorrit.
As it was originally several buildings, knocked into one, the Kings Arms is laid out on four different levels. It has retained many of its original features, including cosy alcoves, leaded windows and oak beamed ceilings.
When the weather is fine, customers can enjoy dining or drinking al fresco in one of the pub’s two courtyards. The larger courtyard has a 50” outdoor TV screen, allowing customers to watch sports or music. It has also been decorated with bicycles to reflect the local area’s heritage, as nearby Box Hill was used for cycling events in the 2012 London Olympics and there are several cycling groups in and around the town. The smaller courtyard is more simply decorated, and is the perfect choice for a quiet drink or meal.
