The Old Doctor Butlers Head, named after the court physician to James I, is a traditional pub in the heart of the City with a rich history and reputation for warm hospitality spanning four centuries.The pub was established in 1610 but had to be rebuilt after the Great Fire of 1666. It is the last of a number of taverns named after Dr Butler who specialised in bizarre for nervous disorders, including dropping patients through a trapdoor in London Bridge and plunging plague victims into cold water.A more enjoyable experience awaits visitors today. The bar, restaurant and function room offer a wide choice of traditional English food, cask ales, international lagers and wines in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.The pub has Sky TV with several screens showing most sports and has an impressive gallery of vintage Spitfire advertisements.
